Description of Eggleston Trust:
Dr. Sarjit Singh Gill, class of 1953, along with his colleagues, friends and alumni of the Christian Medical College Hospital in Ludhiana, India, expressed the desire of promoting medical education in India in general, and in the field of surgery and its related branches in particular, in the memory of Dr. Forrest Cary Eggleston, founding Professor and Head of the department of surgery and former director of the Christian Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana.
The aims and objectives of the Trust which funds the oration are to take all initiatives for furthering the cause and standard of medical education in the field of surgery and/or matters of academic nature for the promotion of the art and science of surgery, especially cardio-thoracic surgery, urology, surgical oncology, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery and also other fields of medical science.
To achieve the aims and objectives, there will take place orations, discussions, seminars, and lectures by eminent physicians and surgeons of international and national repute.
The orations and/or other programs mentioned would be organized annually or in any periodical schedule decided by the members of the Trust. Efforts will be made that such orations and/or other programs will take place as much as possible on the campus of the Christian Medical College and Hospital.
