Elizabeth Krishnan ObGyn Award

In early 2023 Dr. Gopal Krishnan contacted us to set up an award to honor and be named for his wife, Dr. Elizabeth Krishnan for the outstanding student in the Obstetrics and Gynecology class each year. 

The terms written in the Memorandum of Understanding stated:

  1. The MBBS students take the examination in OBGYN in the final professional exam in their senior year.
  2. The Principal of the College of Medicine, the department head of Obstetrics and Gynecology along with a third faculty member to be specified by CMCL will certify the student who meets the criteria of top student in the examination.
  3. The student who scores the top score in OBGYN in the final professional exam will be awarded the Elizabeth Gopal Krishnan Gold medal for the best outgoing student in OBGYN, as well as a monetary award of Rs 25,000.
  4. Dr. Gopal Krishnan has donated a corpus of $23,125, held by the Board in the investment portfolio, from which the award will be made each year.
  5. The award funds will be disbursed to the CMCL FCRA account who will see that it is given to the student named.

The MOU was signed on

An account was set up with Heritage Wealth Management and the funds were deposited into the Board’s portfolio at Charels Schwab.  The first student was given the award in March of 2023.
