CMC requested funds for the Burn Unit in the Department of Plastic Surgery as essential equipment was outdated and barely functioning. Increased industry in the region has resulted in increased frequency of burn injuries, as well as the enormity of fire incidents, making the need for a well-equipped and large burn unit in Ludhiana critical. Some patients had to be transported into another part of the hospital because there was not adequate equipment available in the current burn unit.

A previous potential donor indicated interest in fully funding the Burn Unit, and when the proposal was submitted to him, he declined to offer the funding, leaving the doctors and staff with unfulfilled expectations.

At a meeting held on December 29, 2021, the LCMC Board, USA adopted a resolution to approve the request for the bare minimum of emergency equipment submitted to them. The total cost for this project was ~$47,000.
